Well the interview I recorded has now been made available , you can listen to it here It was done for Web Marketing Radio (www.WMR.com) who have had a few interesting guests including Rachel Elnaugh ex of BBC’s ‘Dragon’s Den’
The guy who interviewed me was Peter Twist - a real pro who has obviously done this sort of thing many times - anyway he made it very easy for me to get my points across.
I don’t think I’ll win any public speaking awards but if you want to get the lowdown on me and how the site came about click on this link and settle back.

Well have been away a while, chasing the long awaited radio interview, it seems they are awaiting the official launch of the station before my interview is broadcast. This may have been handy to know a while back before I told all and sundry to look out for broadcast dates and details., anyhow safe to say I’m waiting still to hear my dulcet tones.
I’ve been investigating other means to promote the site and toyed with pay per click (PPC) but it struck me again that I can’t see how it could work with the site; there are no natural keywords that aren’t likely to fall into the expensive end of the range so I’m moving offline again with my promo. I think radio coverage is the way to go so am planning to target as many radio stations as possible to encourage them to hear my story. I keep checking and website traffic still increases month on month, on average by 62% so that’s encouraging.
Anyway, as ever if you have a website, affiliate link, mlm, whatever to promote and want 15 whole seconds exclusive use of the homepage just sign up at http://famousforfifteenseconds.com/?signup it’s still dirt cheap at $5 a month and you can cancel anytime.

Not sure how many press releases are strictly necessary or acceptable, but I’ve taken it upon myself to personally bang one off to each and every publication I can find.
I found a useful resource that lists all UK newspapers and as there seem to be a gazillion of these that should do for starters. It’s taken me the best part of a day on and off to email those beginning with ‘A’ so on this basis should have finished the job lot in about a months time. In the meantime, if your local paper is ‘The Abbey Wood and Thamesmead People‘ or ‘Ayrshire World‘ or anything alphabetically inbetween then look out for a large splash on the site!
The recent changes to the site have meant I’m now being informed of anybody who starts to register but bails out so I can at least contact them and give them a nudge.
In the meantime, sign up below and tell your business friends, band mates, doctor, chiropodist, butcher, grandma ……etc.

Well this does seem to be key though it’s getting more hits each day. The question I’ve got is how to track those going to the main site after reading the blog as this is one of the key points of writing the thing. In fact tracking in general is proving to be not my strongest point. Anyhow somewhere along the line another subscriber has joined the merry band, it’s getting quite crowded now!
I’m still struggling for unique highly trafficked keywords although entering ‘Famous For Fifteen Seconds’ on Google shows a very respectable 2nd position beaten only by wiki.

I’ve found that if I look at my host’s stats page for the site that in April there were 46 visits to the site, in May this increased to 309 and so far in June there have been 355. This on the surface of it looks good in my eyes but the key problem seems to be converting these to subscribers, so I’ve been looking at how to get more traffic to the site and that includes more visitors to this blog.
Patently if this story is going to be of any interest then surely it would be more so if the site is a success. Getting visitors to a blog is seemingly no easy task but advice elsewhere suggests finding appropriate other blogs and joining in the debate there. So for the last few days I’ve been trawling the net for blogs where I can contribute something meaningful.
The othe rproblem seems to be on the main site where a quick check showed someone had started to subscribe but hadn’t left an image or paid so I need to check what happened there, the last thing I need is a subscriber having problems joining the merry band!

Internet marketing as I am quickly discovering is an absolutely gargantuan world. What with keywords, metatags, PPC, Adwords, Adsense, article marketing, twitter, social media sites, digg, stumbleupon etc etc ad infinitum, where are you supposed to start?
Well I’ve just added a couple of plugins to the blog, one is commentluv which puts a feed to anyone who comments back to their own blog so should act as some sort of incentive. I’ve also added feedburner which does something pretty good I’m sure; something to do with letting people get automatic updates each time I scribble something here.
I suspect internet marketing is a dripfeed of all sorts of methods, time alone will tell, but safe to say the day job is not in jeopardy yet and my splash on the internet remains a ripple.
Anyway for now please feel compelled to read the FAQ at http://www.famousforfifteenseconds.com/?static_pages=frequently_asked_questions then sign up at http://www.famousforfifteenseconds.com/?signup You just need an image file, a URL to promote and $5 a month

Well efforts continue, Ive been tweeting like a good un, but wonder how effective it is; it seems there are a stack of people willing to sign up as followers if you follow them which is good. However that seems to be it as I obviously have something to sell and so do they so all that happens is I tweet my site and they tweet theirs and no actual communication takes place, I certainly don’t look at their offers. Perhaps I should?
Anyway the message is sloooooooooowly getting out as the subscriber list was increased to the tune of one today, so something somewhere is working, perhaps I should find out what.
These are all going in the underway category but I may change this to just_about_underway to be more accurate.
